- AWA Work/Travel participants are University students who, with their J1 Visa and DS 2019 Form, are allowed to work legally in the United States for up to 4 months. The Embassy approved length and dates for their program must fit within their University’s break from classes. All AWA participants must be able to speak English at an intermediate to advanced level.
- Depending on the season, AWA Work/Travel participants could come from Europe, Jamaica, South America, Thailand, China, Turkey or South Africa, just to name a few.
- After the work part of their program has been completed, students can enjoy up to 30 days of travel before returning home to resume classes. During this “grace period”, students are no longer allowed to work. This time gives them the opportunity to experience and explore other areas of the US.
