AVI Health Insurance is provided by AWA for all participants. This coverage provides reimbursement for many medical services for Work/Travel Students. Host Employers must also provide Workman’s Compensation to J1 Students, as required by US Labor Laws.

When going in for medical treatment, make sure your students remember to bring their AVI Insurance Card and a blank claim form. You may also wish to remind them to bring enough money to cover copayments and possibly treatment while waiting for reimbursement. Students also need to keep copies of all treatment summaries and receipts. They will need to provide these documents to get reimbursed by AVI Insurance. They will be responsible for paying anything that AVI Insurance will not cover.
