Phone Calls

Phone conversation minutes are very expensive when dialing internationally from the United States. When making phone calls AWA wants you to think about:

• Buying an International Calling Card or Prepaid Cell Phone
• Always Dialing (1) for Long Distance
• Please make sure you have your employers permission before making any calls from work phones.
• Our phone number is FREE from any US Phone and can be called day or night for emergencies.
• Our office hours are from 9:00-5:00 Pacific Time

Internet

Email, online chats, social networking websites and Skype are great FREE ways to stay connected with friends and family. Students can usually find internet service at the following locations:

• Libraries
• Hotels
• WiFi Hotspots

Each Employer will have their own specific phone and internet usage policies. Make sure you ask your employers about these rules and abide by them at all times. If your employer is generous enough to allow you access to their communication outlets, be careful not to take advantage. If you overuse them you may be responsible for large bills on top of ruining the opportunity for yourself and other Work/Travel participants.
