What is required to become an Overseas Partner?
If your organization is interested in partnering with American Work Adventures, please fill out the online application. You will be required to send us three professional references before we can review your request. Link to Overseas Partner Application
What is the Work/Travel Program?
The Work/Travel program offers international university students the opportunity to work in the United States and gain valuable work experience while earning a modest income. This program is only offered to students during their university’s summer break. At the end of the program, students may travel up to 30 days to visit other areas in the United States depending on current embassy restrictions.
What are the requirements for the J1 students?
  • Student must complete an in-person interview
  • Student must be a enrolled full-time in a accredited University.
  • Student must complete a pre-departure orientation
  • Students must have sufficient financial resources to support themselves
  • Students must be between the ages of 18-27 years old
Are there any jobs a J1 Work/Travel student can not do?
J1 Work/Travel students can not work as caregivers, camp counselors, nannies, employees of a private home, crew members on a ship or a plane, or in the medical field or related staff.
What are the responsibilities for the Overseas Partner?
American Work Adventures will rely on your agency to make sure that ALL applicants have the appropriate qualifications, level of English proficiency, motivation, and maturity to have a successful experience working in the United States. As our partner agencies are in direct contact with the applicants, AWA will expect you to discuss each student’s expectations and prepare them for the responsibilities of being a seasonal employee in an American company. We trust that you will recruit qualified participants and realistically inform them about what to expect during their work adventure in the US.
What are the responsibilities for AWA?
The AWA team is responsible for:
  • Developing all marketing, orientation, and procedural materials
  • Managing the relationships with our overseas partners
  • Supervising program operations throughout the entire program
  • Providing assistance and support to program participants throughout the program dates
  • Resolving conflicts of any nature during program dates
  • Communicating as needed with US Department of State
What are the dates of the Work/Travel Seasons?
The Work/Travel Program operates seasonally during university summer breaks:
  • Spring: March 1 to June 30
  • Summer: May 1 to October 15
  • Winter: November 15 to April 30
